We’re AND-E – one of the fastest-growing insurance companies. And we’re proud of our warm and inclusive culture. We’re building a diverse community, with a unique blend of strengths, to take our business to the next level.

We are looking to recruit a qualified accountant with solid experience in SOX, SOX Lite, or internal/external audit, and a genuine passion for financial controls on a 9 months fixed term contract basis. The purpose of this role will be to provide support to the Group Financial Control Manager and the Group Financial Controller in the delivery and on-going management of the Group’s financial control framework, through the end-to-end management and delivery of the financial control monitoring review program.

This role will support the provision and maintenance of an enhanced control environment within the finance function whilst maintaining independence to the wider operating model, allowing impartial assessments that are proportionate and risk-based aligning to the Group’s overall risk appetite.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the design, planning and execution of the monitoring review programme.
  • Evaluate review outcomes to assess control design and operating effectiveness, identify root causes, quantify associated risks and determine their potential impact on financial reporting, governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide constructive challenge, influence and expert guidance to promote a culture of strong financial control and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with control owners and finance stakeholders to agree appropriate remediation strategies and drive timely implementation of corrective actions ensuring underlying issues are addressed sustainably rather than through short-term workarounds.
  • Prepare high-quality monitoring review reports, communicate key findings, risks, recommendations and management actions.
  • Drive, monitor and challenge the progress of remediation actions through to completion, escalating issues where appropriate to ensure timely resolution.
  • Act as a key point of contact for financial controls, promoting best practice and helping ensure the organisation maintains a robust and well-evidenced control environment capable of supporting internal and external assurance requirements.
  • Construct process maps to illustrate existing and desired finance processes.
  • Continuously maintain action trackers and dashboards for the Financial Control Framework.
  • Assist with the creation of meeting and committee packs.
  • Improve the design and on-going evolution of the monitoring framework.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Recognised professional accounting qualification: ACCA or equivalent or qualified by experience.
  • Minimum 3 years SOX, SOX lite or internal or external audit experience.
  • Demonstratable experience of substantive and control-based testing.
  • Extensive experience in audit-style report writing, including the clear articulation of control weaknesses and recommended remediation actions.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in working in or with Group accounting functions based across multiple regulatory jurisdictions.
  • Insurance / Financial Services experience is desirable but not essential.

Behaviours:

  • Passionate about the value and security of controls and how these lead to efficient and effective control functions across the business.
  • Open and pragmatic approach to stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail but an understanding of a risk-based approach.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organisation from senior management to assistant level professionals.
  • Ability to communicate complex matters both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to assess finance processes and identify key controls and control gaps.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical, data analysis and organisational skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Word skills.
  • Process mapping skills – Visio experience desirable but not essential.
