Job Purpose/Objectives of a Mobile Crane Operator

To provide high-quality lifting services, prioritizing safety for employees, customers, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate cranes according to manufacturer’s instructions at all times.
• Follow road traffic regulations.
• Wear PPE appropriately.
• Use outriggers correctly, ensuring they are on level ground.
• Set and verify the rated capacity limiter and indicator.
• Perform manual handling tasks correctly, including outrigger pans.
• Liaise with Site/Project Managers upon arrival.
• Resist pressures to perform unsafe operations.
• Understand and apply information from reports and duty charts.
• Monitor wind and weather conditions affecting crane and load safety.
• Take necessary actions to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping operations.
• Operate fire suppressant equipment if fitted.
• Access and leave the crane safely using ladders and grab rails.
• Undergo training on specific crane models, rigging, maintenance, and documentation.
• Continuously seek improvements in operational procedures.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

• Full Drivers Licence
• HGV Class C Licence
• Valid Blue CPCS card with Mobile Crane Operator authorization
• Experience operating mobile cranes
• Knowledge of weather effects on crane operation
• Strong understanding of road traffic laws

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrate safe working practices
• Provide friendly and helpful customer service
