You’ll be a planner who enjoys seeing tasks through to completion and keeping operations running smoothly. Full training will be provided, both in our industry and in the specifics of the role, so you don’t need crane hire experience to join us. What matters most is the right mindset: organised, focused, and ready to make things happen.

As a Hire Controller for Regional Cranes, you’ll support the Operations Manager in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the Regional Cranes division, maximising both revenue and efficiency while delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that the regional fleet and its ancillary support equipment is compliant with all statutory inspections and service attendances.
  • Driving utilisation through efficient logistics and managing serviceability ensuring maximum availability.
  • Checking opportunities in CE and maintaining relationships with Area Sales Managers to ensure all work is booked in and escalating any potential issues to the Regional Cranes Operation Manager.
  • Liaising closely with Transport division, ensuring the timely delivery and collection of crane counterweight.
  • Ensuring that all extra charges such as demurrage are logged and charged (via Depots).
  • Remaining up to date with the industry and market in order to foster key relationships and to provide an approved re-hire supplier list.
  • Maintaining relationships with the depot hire controllers, depot managers and ASM’s to improve communication and collaboration.
  • Logging all customer service issues within the CE case log.
  • Working alongside depots in regards of optimal maintenance, operator training, spare operators and succession planning for new operators.
  • Understanding Abnormal Load Routing procedures and to resolve routing issues with the department.
  • Working closely with the routing team to ensure all addresses/W3W provided so that all routes and any alternative cranes are notified within legal timeframes.
  • Liaising with customers when required especially when service issues arise.
  • Developing and maintaining a culture that is commercially orientated, actively engaging with change and customer focused.
Qualifications
  • Technically competent with large cranes and commercially astute in the mobile crane hire sector (preferred but not essential) or experience in a similar field.
  • Good standard of literacy in English and Maths.
  • Proven track record of customer-facing experience working to clearly defined service level agreements.
  • Evidence of delivery of continuous improvement within a customer service environment.
  • Area knowledge of customer base and market.
  • Good transport / logistics knowledge.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical service environment.
  • Knowledge of QHSE legislation.
  • IT literate – comfortable using systems Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence.
  • Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate/manage the appropriate outcome.
  • Clear, calm and articulate whilst working under pressure.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • High energy levels and personal flexibility to focus on priorities and effective team management.
