Role Overview
The Regional Originator is the primary regional contact for the fund on the ground. The role carries responsibility for building and maintaining relationships with intermediaries, advisers and SME owners across the Region, and for proactive deal origination across the full ticket range. This is a hybrid origination and credit role. Volume at the smaller end of the range is handled by an automated application and scoring process, freeing the Originator to concentrate on generating pipeline and on the qualitative credit work that materially informs underwriting in the middle of the range. On larger transactions, the Originator works alongside the established Deal Team. Role Responsibilities by Loan Size
The Region is expected to produce a high volume of applications across a wide ticket range. The Originator's involvement in the credit process scales with facility size. Loans up to £250,000
Applications are submitted by the borrower through the website and assessed automatically, producing a decision without individual analyst review. The Originator's role at this level is to: Generate application volume through proactive regional origination. Direct enquiries and introducer referrals to the online application process. Triage out-of-mandate enquiries before they enter the process. There is no individual credit workload attached to these transactions. Loans above £250,000 and up to £1,000,000
Applications follow the same online route and are scored on the same basis but require further analysis before a credit decision is taken. The Originator performs this analysis, including, where applicable: Enhanced qualitative assessment. Site visits. Regional reference checks. On-the-ground commercial due diligence. Written input into the credit paper. This is where regional knowledge of borrowers, sectors and intermediary references adds the most value, and it represents the core analytical component of the role. Loans above £1,000,000
The Originator originates and qualifies the opportunity before working alongside the existing Deal Team on the transaction. The Originator contributes: Full qualitative assessment. Site visits and supporting due diligence. Regional context and local market knowledge. Relevant input into the credit paper. Structuring and execution are led by the Deal Team. Key Responsibilities
Origination and Regional Coverage
Provide continuous regional coverage across Norfolk and Suffolk, with potential coverage of Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Essex and Hertfordshire from time to time. Cover the East of England sub-regions, including underserved rural and coastal areas. Originate proactively across the full ticket range, generating a qualified and geographically balanced pipeline. Provide direct contact channels for SMEs and advisers, acting as the visible regional face of the fund. Intermediary and Stakeholder Relationships
Build relationships with professional advisers, accountants, lawyers and corporate finance boutiques across the Region. Develop partnerships with Chambers of Commerce, Growth Hubs, local authority economic development teams, universities and incubators. Engage with named regional partners, including brokers and other intermediaries. Hold adviser briefings, drop-in sessions, Growth Hub workshops and similar engagement activities. Credit Process Contribution
Conduct site visits in support of enhanced and full qualitative assessments. Undertake elements of the credit process alongside the Deal Team, including initial qualitative assessment, regional reference checks, on-the-ground commercial due diligence and supporting input into credit papers. Apply regional judgement to transactions where local context concerning the borrower, its counterparties or its sector materially informs the credit view. Marketing and Pipeline Management
Coordinate with the Investor Relations/Marketing team on the IR-led digital marketing function. Convert digital reach into qualified pipeline. Ensure SMEs across the Region are aware that the fund now lends from £25,000 upwards.
