The Business Development Manager plays a key part in enhancing the strategic execution and operational efficiency of broker management operations. The role is focused on driving revenue growth through the development, maintenance, and support of a designated portfolio of brokers, with the objective of increasing funded deals across your assigned territory. You will be responsible for achieving ambitious growth targets within the broker management team by proactively acquiring new broker relationships and nurturing existing partnerships. In addition, you will manage the full range of administrative responsibilities associated with maintaining your broker patch. Through these efforts, you will make a direct contribution to expanding the company’s broker network and generating new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Broker Relationship Management
    • Act as the primary point of contact for an allocated broker patch.
    • Build trusted, long-term relationships with your brokers by being their main point of contact for all deal submissions and queries.
    • Conduct regular face-to-face or Teams meetings to identify and understand brokers' needs.
    • Conduct hot-desking sessions with broker partners at least twice per month to increase visibility, strengthen engagement, generate more application submissions, and improve overall performance.
    • Identify opportunities to increase broker engagement and funded deal volumes.
    • Deliver training and product updates to broker partners where required.
  • Business Development
    • Identify, prospect and onboard new broker partners within the assigned territory.
    • Develop and execute territory plans to maximise broker acquisition and funded deal volumes.
    • Generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, industry events and market research.
    • Promote products and value proposition to prospective broker partners.
    • Maintain an active pipeline of new broker opportunities.
  • Revenue Growth
    • Achieve your monthly and quarterly new lending targets and revenue targets.
    • Increase broker productivity through proactive patch management.
    • Monitor broker performance and implement strategies to improve conversion rates.
  • Deal Ownership
    • Always strive to secure every viable deal. Where competition from another lender may impact the outcome, proactively discuss the opportunity with your Line Manager to explore authorised commercial options, including interest rate adjustments where appropriate, to give the best chance of winning the business while protecting the company’s commercial objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar BDM role, preferably within a sales environment in the financial services sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing administrative tasks.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Emerald) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience within commercial finance, lending, banking or financial services.
  • Substantial experience in telephone-based service, with the ability to manage and resolve broker queries effectively over the phone.
