The dual-site Hyatt Place Hotel and Hyatt House Apartments is ideally located in Sovereign Square at the heart of Leeds City Centre. Offering 305 keys in total, it is comprised of a 217‑bedroom Hyatt Place Hotel, complete with 4 boardroom style meeting rooms and a destination rooftop bar and restaurant, Azotea, and an 88‑apartment Hyatt House extended‑stay concept with F&B offering.

A day in the life of… People and Culture Lead. You will form an essential part of the hotel’s team, working as a figurehead for people and culture. You'll be tasked with supporting the hotel management team to ensure a first‑class employee experience, from onboarding to performance and capability through to off‑boarding. You will work in partnership with senior stakeholders in delivering the HR strategy, attraction, hiring, growth and development of the team. As well as working within the local community, you will lead our partnerships with Colleges and Universities. You will ensure all colleague training is up to date and a culture of team engagement is fostered throughout the business across all areas of the hotel. Finally you’ll work closely with the established off‑site HR shared services team to deliver quick resolution to common and complex HR queries. This role is unlike any other in our hotel and offers development opportunities across working with all other departments. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that guests have a first‑class enjoyable and comfortable stay. This role is flexible and we’re committed to finding a way of working that suits both candidate and hotel. This part‑time role of 20 hours a week based on property could be split over 3, 4 or 5 working days. We welcome a discussion around this.

What do we need from you?

  • Leadership skills – you’ll form part of the leadership team and need strong leadership skills to manage and motivate senior stakeholders. You should be able to delegate tasks, provide guidance and support, and create a positive work environment.
  • Strategic thinking – you should be able to think strategically and support the development of people strategies that align with the hotel’s overall business objectives. You’ll be able to analyse data, identify trends and develop people initiatives that improve employee satisfaction, reduce turnover and increase productivity.
  • Recruitment and selection – you should be able to support the recruitment process for all positions within the hotel, from entry‑level to managerial positions. This includes advertising vacancies, screening resumes, conducting interviews and selecting candidates.
  • Developing talent – we offer ‘A place to grow’ so you will be able to identify and work with leaders to develop talent within the hotel. You should be able to create career development plans, provide training and mentoring and create opportunities for employees to advance their careers within the hotel.
  • Business acumen – it would be advantageous for you to have a good understanding of the hotel industry and the business environment in which the hotel operates. With this, you should be able to develop people strategies that support the hotel’s business goals and provide advice and guidance to management on people‑related issues. Previous experience using Fourth would be beneficial for this role.
