Employer Engagement Officer – North East Based

Job Purpose: Engage employers to support progression for learners.

The Employer Engagement Officer is a key member of the team, supporting our learners in gaining access to a variety of employment or further training opportunities. The post holder will identify employers offering work placements and employment opportunities that match the skills, experience, and aspirations of learners, while also coordinating work placement opportunities for them. They will ensure they continually identify and build relationships with employers and FE providers. The role also involves offering advice and guidance on employment pathways, career development, and career and job fair type events. Aim2Learn are a national provider of training to unemployed learners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an employer engagement plan in line with agreed performance measures. The plan will include a rationale for employer targets along with short- and long-term goals.
  • Secure employment for learners.
  • Set up employer interviews and secure work placements.
  • Support the transition, where appropriate, from further education or work placement into employment.
  • Effectively seek out employers willing to provide employment opportunities and or work experience placements, which match the learners’ skills, experience and aspirations.
  • Develop professional, long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with employers.
  • Establish, develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of local labour markets and issues affecting recruitment to share with others within the team.
  • Confidently and professionally promote Aim2Learn Pre-Employment Services by representing the organisation at appropriate events and presenting aims and objectives to potential employers, which in turn would increase the awareness of Aim2Learn services.

Skills, Experience and Qualities

  • Have a current network of contacts within the business and education sector.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience in a high-volume sales environment.
  • Not shy to pick up the phone.
  • Good ICT skills, particularly with Microsoft packages, including Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE grade C in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Able to follow processes.
  • Problem solver with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Enthusiasm in the workplace.
  • Work well under pressure in a challenging environment.

Desirable Skills, Experience and Qualities

  • Construction/telecoms sector experience.
