Job Title: Fuels Technician – Fuels Support Equipment

Location: Royal Air Force Fairford, Fairford, United Kingdom

Summary: Efficiently fuel assigned equipment. Perform the work required in a timely manner and maintain adequate production to meet service schedules. The Technician’s responsibilities include receiving, storing, and distributing aircraft fuel, inspecting fuel systems, performing maintenance on fueling equipment, and ensuring safety procedures are followed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Installs, maintains, repairs, and inspects FSE Assets.

• Fuel Support Equipment (FSE) o R-18 Pumping Unit o R-19 Filter Separators o R-20 Servicing Platform o R-21 Plumbing Assembly o TASS o PMU-27 Pumping Cart o 50K Fuel Bladders o 210K Fuel Bladders o 10K Fuel Bladder o 210K Berm Liner

• Adjusts/repairs pumps, control valves, meters, strainers, filters, water separators, and all other elements of liquid fuel systems.

• Performs periodic inspections of fuel bladders, pumping units in compliance with applicable regulations, to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and malfunction of mechanical units, meters, gauges, and hoses.

• Perform 90 and 180-day inspections of Fuel Support Equipment (FSE) assets per US Air Force regulations, Air Force Instructions (AFI) and Technical Orders (TO).

• Inspects electrical wiring, switches, and controls for safe operating condition, grounding, and adjustment.

• Repairs, replaces, and adjusts malfunctioning equipment to restore operating condition specified in regulations and repair manuals.

• Disassembles, adjusts, aligns, calibrates gauges, and meters, and performs hydrostatic hose testing.

• Maintain and monitor the Shelf-Life program for all Fuel Support Equipment (FSE) parts (hoses, valves, seals and any other items or material that have a shelf-life requirement).

• Perform Periodic Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) and function checks on all equipment to ensure that units are pumping and straining fuel IAW AFIs and Technical Orders.

• Perform inventory of Readiness Spares Packages (RSPs) and Unit Type Code (UTC) Fuel Support Equipment (FSE) kits on a semi and annual basis or when directed.

• Prep assets for shipment to offsite locations.

• Perform Limited Technical Inspections (LTIs) such as Acceptance, Shipment, and Condition on assets arriving or being shipped from the site.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be a UK Citizen authorized to work in the United Kingdom.

• General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE), foundation degree, Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent formal education.

• Two (2) to five (5) years of job-related experience.

• Must be comfortable working in all-weather conditions.

• Must have experience in the installation, operation, inspection, maintenance, and/or repair of fuel delivery systems.

• Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including fuel trucks, forklifts, fuel pumps, hand tools, etc.

• Must be physically able to operate motor vehicles.

• Must possess basic mathematical skills.

• Must be able to speak, read and write English. Additional Requirements

• Completed Royal Air Force “Fuels Technician” Apprenticeship within the Aircraft Technician trade at the Air Specialist (Class 2) level or above, similar Army Petroleum Specialists, an Apprenticeship in another Branch of Military Service, or equivalent Civil/Commercial training certification.

• USAF equivalent Military Occupational Specialty – Fuels AFSC 2F0X1, which includes USAF course J3ABR2F031 00AB, and/or USAF course J3AZR2F051 05AB.

• Client will schedule attendance at Advanced Fuels Course within 12 months of employment, as necessary
