Job Title: Fuels Technician, Lead
Location: Royal Air Force Fairford, Fairford, United Kingdom
Summary: Supervises personnel involved in the periodic maintenance, reconstitution, preservation, storage, and deployment of all USAF Fuels Support Equipment (FSE) and vehicle assets IAW applicable USAF mandatory requirements. Ensures compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS), Airbase, and Client Quality Management System.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with all standard operational procedures, work instructions, USAF Technical Orders industrial safety and environmental policies.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance inspections of Fuels workshops and work areas to ensure that all shop work is performed safely and in accordance with applicable directives.
• Reviews and verifies all Fuels asset status.
• Identify asset deficiencies and submit Product Quality Deficiency Reports, as required.
• Submit Self Inspection Form (SIF) detailing inspection findings as required.
• Maintain accountability of all OEL and Non-OEL assets.
• Assigns and directs all shop work on Fuels to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity.
• Supervise the troubleshooting and repair of Fuels.
• Complete and submit employee assessments and evaluations, as required.
• Conduct administrative requirements related to maintenance and repair of Fuels assets.
• Direct parts and material research for the purpose of ordering repair parts and supplies.
• Provide task training and continual training in areas of safety, physical security, quality control, environmental concerns and other areas required by the PWS.
• Supervise preparation of Fuels Assets for deployment according to established procedures.
• Perform all other tasks, duties and TDY travel as directed by Management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must be a UK Citizen and authorized to work in UK.
• General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE), foundation degree, Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent formal education.
• Four to six years of Fuels Technician related experience.
• Outstanding customer service and organizational skills and excellent command of the English language.
• Good mathematical skills.
• Proficiency in the use of personal computers, Windows Operating System, and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Licensure to operate material handling and light to heavy military type vehicles and equipment. Additional Requirements
• Completed Royal Air Force “Fuels Technician” Apprenticeship within the Aircraft Technician trade at the Air Specialist (Class 1) level, an equivalent, or above. o Reference: USAF equivalent Military Occupational Specialty – Fuels AFSC 2F051, USAF course J3AZR2F051 05AB or above.
• Client will schedule attendance at Advanced Fuels Course within 12 months of employment, as necessary.
• Certified Petroleum Journeyman or equivalent civil/commercial certification is acceptable in place of Military Fuels Apprentice training.
