A fantastic opportunity for a heritage professional to make a real difference at Avoncroft Museum - looking after the past, and shaping the future.

Are you a heritage professional with a background in collections management? Are you looking for a role with plenty of scope to make a real difference? Do you have a passion for looking after historic artefacts, but also for telling relevant stories to connect them with people's lives today?

We are looking for the right person to join our small, dedicated and multi-tasking team as we plan the future direction of England's first open air museum to ensure it is fit for the future, ensuring that our collection of buildings and smaller artefacts are cared for to professional museum standards.

We are at the start of a major programme of generational repairs and maintenance to our collection of over 30 buildings encompassing 700 years of history to ensure they continue to be preserved for future visitors; and we have started to implement a new and engaging way of interpreting these buildings and the lives of ordinary people they represent.

An exciting project is under way to update our knowledge and understanding of our thousands of smaller collections items, and ensure they are more accessible to researchers and the public - can you deliver this and plan and deliver the future phases of this transformative work?

You will need experience in collections documentation, care and management, and in preventive maintenance, to ensure we maintain our Museums Association Accreditation status.

We have a growing team of volunteer interpreters to look after our buildings and interact with visitors - can you inspire, manage and train this team to create engaging experiences that bring history to life?

This is a full time management team role. Proposals for job share will be considered. Some weekend working is expected, as the team share duty management responsibilities.

Salary £33,500 - £35,000 depending on experience.
