Are you a commercially sharp Packaging Buyer ready to take full ownership of a key category within a fast-paced Fresh Produce business? We are working with a leading Fresh Food supplier to appoint a Senior Packaging Buyer. Based predominantly at one site, this role holds responsibility for packaging procurement across the wider group, playing a critical role in ensuring cost-effective, reliable supply aligned to production plans and customer demand.
As Senior Packaging Buyer, you will own the packaging category end to end, managing supplier relationships, forecasting, MRP, pricing, and stock availability. Working closely with operations, technical, and commercial teams, you will drive procurement efficiency, cost control, and supply continuity across the business.
Key Responsibilities- Full category ownership for packaging procurement across multiple sites
- Develop and deliver category procurement plans aligned to forecast volumes
- Manage ordering, MRP, and stock levels to ensure 100% availability to plan
- Lead supplier relationships, performance reviews, audits, and negotiations
- Deliver cost savings through tenders, pricing reviews, and value engineering
- Proven experience in packaging procurement or buying within Fresh Produce, Food Manufacturing, or FMCG
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills with experience managing suppliers
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (Prophet or similar preferred)
- Confident managing forecasts, stock, and category budgets
- Highly organised, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
