We are seeking a proactive Maintenance Engineer to join a busy food manufacturing operation, taking ownership of planned preventative maintenance, equipment reliability, and site engineering activities. Role Overview
The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, machinery, and site facilities to the highest standards. Working across both planned and reactive maintenance activities, you will help maximise equipment availability, minimise downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support planned preventative maintenance activities across production equipment and site services
- Diagnose faults and carry out reactive maintenance to minimise operational downtime
- Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of electro-mechanical production and packaging equipment
- Monitor machinery performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all documentation is completed correctly
- Support statutory inspections and ensure engineering compliance requirements are maintained
- Carry out repairs and maintenance across site facilities, buildings, and infrastructure as required
- Work closely with Production teams to ensure equipment is returned safely and efficiently to operation
- Support contractor management activities and ensure work is completed to required standards
- Recommend and implement engineering improvements that enhance safety, performance, and productivity
- Promote a strong Health & Safety culture and ensure all engineering activities are completed in line with company procedures and legislative requirements
Key Requirements
- Previous experience working within a Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or similar role
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills within a manufacturing environment
- Experience maintaining production machinery and equipment
- Mechanical engineering qualification such as City & Guilds or equivalent
- 17th Edition Electrical qualification or equivalent is advantageous
- Understanding of preventative maintenance systems and engineering best practice
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
- Experience working within food manufacturing, fresh produce, FMCG, or a similar fast-paced production environment would be beneficial
- Competent using Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage competing priorities effectively
