Responsible for content creation, team management and budget delivery for one of the most profitable and important parts of our clients current portfolio. The conference director, working alongside the housing management team, must deliver a portfolio of conferences, awards and exhibition content that constantly meet and exceed attendee targets whilst ensuring all stakeholder satisfaction levels remain high.
Responsibilities:
- Always meeting current set objectives, the candidate will deliver consistently high-level content alongside innovative events, whilst bringing new and exciting people and topics to the fore.
- Strategy & Content: Develop conference themes, agendas, and commercial strategies, conducting market research to meet audience needs.
- Budgeting & Financials: Manage P&L, set ticket prices, ensure profitability, and manage budgets to meet financial targets.
- Speaker & Stakeholder Management: Identify, invite, and manage high-level speakers, keynotes, and sponsors.
- Marketing & Sponsorship: Collaborate with marketing teams to promote events and work with sales teams to secure sponsorships and exhibitor space.
- Operations & Logistics: Oversee on-site event management, including venue coordination, technology, catering, and health & safety compliance.
Senior management: This role must also support collaboration across all of the wider management team. As a senior representative, the Conference and Awards Director is a custodian of all external relationships and should be a professional brand ambassador for their work.
Person specification: The person in this role must strive for excellence in all they do. Always adhering to our clients values which are 'together we succeed' they must have a passion for creating award-winning events, on budget and within the planned timeframes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Leadership: Experience leading teams of producers or event planners for a minimum of three years.
- Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of housing or the public sector would be an advantage.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation, and budgetary skills.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects on tight deadlines.
