Aila is excited to be exclusively supporting a leading manufacturing business in Watford in the permanent recruitment of a Financial Accounting Senior Manager.

The Role:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role owns the delivery of the month-end timetable across the financial year, performing close procedures with high accuracy and maintaining robust balance sheet reconciliations with a clear, detailed audit trail. You will also be the owner of the compliance tracker, responsible for VAT return calculations and submissions, and the key point of support to the Financial Controller through the tax and statutory audit processes. It's a hands-on, front-office finance role for someone who takes genuine pride in getting things right first time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver the month-end timetable, performing close procedures with high accuracy and maintaining robust, fully reconciled balance sheets with a detailed audit trail
  • Post month-end journals (payroll, bonus and central accruals, prepayments, commission and delivery calculations, and irrecoverable VAT) and maintain the Fixed Asset register
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations, including service fees and loan interest
  • Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and P&L vs. balance sheet integrity checks, and organise the balance sheet finance review meetings
  • Own the compliance tracker, ensuring all annual, quarterly and monthly surveys are filed and delivered accurately and on time
  • Calculate, prepare and submit VAT returns and post the related VAT journals
  • Provide information requested by tax consultants to complete the tax return filing process
  • Produce monthly reporting for the management team and company board

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA), 2-5 years post-qualified
  • Experience using an integrated ERP system, with a multi-currency reporting background
  • Highly numerate and analytical, with a logical, methodical approach and strong Excel
  • A confident communicator able to translate financial information for non-financial audiences
