Group Assistant Accountant £40,000 - £45,000 + bonus, benefits & Hybrid working London
Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant, comfortable working in a varied month end finance role and excited by the prospect of joining a leading UK Construction Group? If so, this role could be for you. We’re exclusively partnered with a multi-entity construction business as they look to add a Group Assistant Accountant to their team.

The Role:
The role will support the Group Finance Manager & Treasury Director in a varied month end position, supporting the day-to-day management of the Group’s circa £300m cash balance, whilst supporting the monthly close in a small Group finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing monthly journals including prepayments and accruals
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including maintaining the fixed asset register
- Analysing monthly head office costs & preparing monthly Intercompany recharges
- Raising monthly/quarterly sales invoices
- Assisting with production of statutory accounts
- Assisting with external audit queries
- Supporting the daily management of the Group’s circa £300m cash balance
- Preparing morning reports on daily available cash balances, investing surplus available cash, and managing intra-group loans
- Producing daily cash reports for the group’s senior management
- Ensuring that all cash management activities are accurately and consistently recorded and reported
- Inputting and arranging authorisation of payments arising from cash management activities
- Preparing weekly cash forecasts for the head office function and the consolidated group
- Checking bank interest calculations and ensuring that interest payable and receivable is accurately reported
- Monitoring outstanding performance bonds and pushing for release of performance bonds no longer required
The Ideal Candidate:
- AAT Qualified or 3-5 years’ experience in a month end role
- Experience in a month end finance role in a similar Assistant Accountant capacity
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and to work to deadlines
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with colleagues and external contacts
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make rational decisions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively
