Head of Transactional Finance – (AP & AR) - FTC

Are you an experienced finance leader with exposure to managing and motivating large teams within a transactional finance environment? We’re exclusively partnered with a large Retailer in Hertfordshire as they look to hire a Head of Transactional Fin Ops to lead a team of 17 across AP & AR on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract.

About the Role

Managing an AP Manager & AR Manager and supporting with their teams of 9 and 6. For all areas of responsibility the Head of Fin Ops is required to ensure that Ledger balances are well managed, current with negligible aged items, that associated Ledger and Balance Sheet Control Accounts are fully reconciled monthly and that the teams are motivated and high performing.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Billing and settlement is delivered in a timely and accurate manner
  • Drive forward improvements in processing to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Review and approve credit notes
  • Engage with the wider business to resolve escalated issues and suggest improvements to and further develop the systems, and processes
  • Key areas for improvement are with respect to streamlining and automation of processes
  • Lead a high performing, motivated team that are able to process large volumes accurately and efficiently
  • Lead projects as required by the Finance Director, Finance Operations to ensure that balances on the creditors’ ledgers are in line with expected cash inflow & business spend post month end
  • Ensure all cash receipts and payments are allocated on Creditors Ledgers
  • Ensuring that all payments are made by Purchase ledger within terms and that the remaining open balances are reconciled to supplier statements
  • Suggest improvements to and further develop the systems and processes
  • Lead the simplification of expenses and mileage processing
  • Lead the response to audit demands that are complex and high volume

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years’ experience leading high volume, complex processing teams
  • A good understanding of the trading account process, accounting reconciliation techniques and Balance Sheet Control Accounts
  • Demonstrable leadership skills, experience managing and motivating large teams
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and to work to deadlines
  • Ability to achieve targets whilst maintaining accuracy
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with colleagues and external contacts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively

Pay range and compensation package

  • Hybrid working (3 days in St Albans, 2 remote)
