Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and driven Business Development Director to lead Aiko’s growth across the UK and European utility solar markets. This is a remote role for a UK-based professional who will focus on expanding Aiko’s presence, securing large-scale solar and storage project opportunities, and building key relationships across the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Aiko’s business development strategy for utility-scale solar and storage projects across the UK and Europe.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities, partnerships, and tenders to expand Aiko’s market position and revenue.
- Conduct detailed market and policy analysis to anticipate trends, competitor moves, and regulatory shifts affecting project development.
- Lead complex contract negotiations with developers, investors, EPC contractors, and offtakers, managing end-to-end deal closure.
- Represent Aiko at industry events, regulatory forums, and client meetings, strengthening Aiko’s brand and network.
- Work closely with technical, legal, and supply chain teams to ensure project feasibility, competitiveness, and timely execution.
Who We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- 8‑10 years of relevant business development or sales experience in the solar or renewable energy sector, with a proven record in utility‑scale project development or technology sales.
- Strong understanding of the UK and European energy markets, including regulatory frameworks, planning consent processes, and PPA/CFD mechanisms.
- Established network across the UK energy sector – including developers, funders, EPCs, and grid stakeholders – is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with fluency in English.
- Additional European language skills are a plus.
- Self‑motivated and able to work autonomously in a remote setting, with a willingness to travel within the UK and Europe as required.
