Working with clients, you will support the design, implementation and improvement of records and information management practices that help organisations reduce risk, meet regulatory obligations and improve the accessibility of trusted information. The role focuses on analysing information needs and helping to develop practical approaches for the creation, classification, storage, retrieval, retention and disposal of digital and physical records. Closely aligned with information governance, data protection, legal hold, freedom of information and wider compliance requirements, this role combines advisory work with hands-on delivery. It is suited to individuals who want to build their expertise in a commercial environment, support digital transformation, and help clients use modern technologies and AI responsibly.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in records management, information management or information governance, ideally within enterprise or complex organisational environments.
  • Good understanding of records and information management principles, including classification, retention, disposal, metadata and lifecycle management.
  • Aware of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including UK GDPR, Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Legal Hold considerations.
  • Knowledge of recognised records and information management standards or frameworks such as MoReq, DoD 5015.2 or relevant ISO standards.
  • Technical understanding of Electronic Document and Records Management solutions such as SharePoint, OpenText, Alfresco, Hyland or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of manual and automated classification approaches, and awareness of how strong information governance supports AI initiatives.
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain information clearly to different audiences.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Ability to support project delivery, training and documentation activities.

Desirable skills

  • Experience with EDRMS or digital information platforms in delivery or support roles.
  • Knowledge of taxonomy design, metadata models, classification schemas and information architecture.
  • Experience in regulated, security-conscious or complex operational environments.
  • Experience supporting change programmes, system implementations or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Relevant records or information management qualification, certification or membership.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support clients in implementing and improving records and information management frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Review current records and information management practices to identify gaps, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Help develop and apply information classification schemes, metadata structures, retention schedules and labelling approaches for digital and physical records.
  • Support clients with record lifecycle activities, including creation, classification, active use, storage, retrieval, archiving and disposal.
  • Assist clients in meeting legal, regulatory and policy requirements, including UK GDPR, Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Legal Hold obligations.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, standards and controls that support effective information governance.
  • Support records management change initiatives, including process improvements, system implementations, migration activities and transition to new digital ways of working.
  • Help establish practical processes for information retrieval and access, including logs, indexes and approaches that improve discoverability and usability.
  • Conduct records audits, inventories and reviews to improve control, accessibility and compliance.
  • Deliver training, guidance and awareness sessions to support client teams in adopting records and information management best practice.
  • Produce clear documentation, reports and recommendations for internal and client stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with wider teams across information governance, compliance, digital transformation and AI-related initiatives where strong information governance is essential.
