Salary: £60,000 – £80,000
Were working with a forward-thinking technology-led organisation thats looking to hire a Senior Back End Developer to join one of their high-performing engineering teams. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about building scalable software, enjoys mentoring others, and wants to play a key role in shaping backend architecture within a modern, agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Youll join a cross-functional product squad, typically made up of Back End and Front-End Developers, QA Engineers, UX Designers, Content Specialists and a Product Manager, with additional support from Architects and Staff Engineers.
- Each squad owns the full lifecycle of its products, so youll be involved from initial discovery and planning through to build, release and ongoing monitoring. The team works in two-week sprints and follows Agile best practices.
- As a Senior / Lead Back End Engineer, your role will balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities. Youll provide technical direction, coach and mentor developers, contribute to architectural decisions, and support multidisciplinary delivery across the squad.
- Development is centred around a Microservices architecture, with involvement in legacy systems.
- Beyond squad work, youll be part of the Back End Chapter, collaborating on technology choices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills/Experience
- Strong C# development experience
- Experience with both .NET Core and .NET Web API
- Experience of building Microservices in .Net Core
- Experience using Message Based Architectures
- Experience using both SQL & NoSQL technologies
- Experience of API design
- Cloud development/architecture (Azure)
- Experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban)
- Knowledge and experience of Unit Testing (xUnit, nUnit)
Desired Skills/Experience
- Experience of TDD practices
- DevOps (CI/CD, Pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code)
- Experiencing managing small teams of developers
