We are working with a forward-thinking technology-led organisation that is looking to hire a Senior Back End Developer to join one of their high-performing engineering teams. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about building scalable software, enjoys mentoring others, and wants to play a key role in shaping backend architecture within a modern, agile environment.
Responsibilities
- You will join a cross-functional product squad, typically made up of Back End and Front-End Developers, QA Engineers, UX Designers, Content Specialists and a Product Manager, with additional support from Architects and Staff Engineers.
- Each squad owns the full lifecycle of its products, so you will be involved from initial discovery and planning through to build, release and ongoing monitoring. The team works in two-week sprints and follows Agile best practices.
- As a Senior / Lead Back End Engineer, your role will balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities. You will provide technical direction, coach and mentor developers, contribute to architectural decisions, and support multidisciplinary delivery across the squad.
- Development is centred around a Microservices architecture, with involvement in legacy systems.
- Beyond squad work, you will be part of the Back End Chapter, collaborating on technology choices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills/Experience
- Strong C# development experience
- Experience with both .NET Core and .NET Web API
- Experience of building Microservices in .Net Core
- Experience using Message Based Architectures
- Experience using both SQL & NoSQL technologies
- Experience of API design
- Cloud development/architecture (Azure)
- Experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban)
- Knowledge and experience of Unit Testing (xUnit, nUnit)
Desired Skills/Experience
- Experience of TDD practices
- DevOps (CI/CD, Pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code)
- Experience managing small teams of developers
