AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. How you will create an impact
You will be working on one of the biggest O&P books in the market writing a broad range of risks with scope to underwrite globally. Supported by an experienced and well-respected underwriting team along with established claims and engineering professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Deal directly with brokers and clients to handle new business and renewal submissions and perform underwriting analysis, in line with global underwriting strategy.
- Support senior colleagues to help develop, grow, manage and maintain a profitable book of Oil and Petrochemical accounts.
- Assess and underwrite prospect business and renewal accounts in line with your underwriting authority, as well as the AIG\’s business strategy and underwriting guidelines.
- Maintain a globally consistent data set of submissions and the historical loss results of that portfolio.
- Adhere to company procedures and documentation management standards. Ensure that underwriting information is maintained accurately in underwriting systems.
- Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in special underwriting projects as required.
- Work cross functionally with other underwriting teams in AIG to achieve corporate objectives.
- Attend client/broker meetings, presentations and relevant industry events in the UK and abroad.
What you’ll need to succeed
- The role would suit someone who is likely to have 1 to 3 years’ experience in underwriting, broking or industrial experience in the O&P / Energy segment.
- Ideally you are CII qualified or working towards it.
- Proactive mindset and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical skills and proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong IT skills capable of working off a variety of technology platforms including underwriting platforms, raters, electronic trading platforms etc.
- Results oriented and highly accountable.
- Effective interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment making quick decisions while adhering to sound underwriting discipline.
- Given the global nature of the portfolio, foreign languages would be a plus, but not essential.
