Join us as a Major Loss Adjuster to take on key responsibilities within a world-class claims function. Our claims handlers deal with a number of highly sophisticated insureds globally, including large multinational fronting programmes where AIG are lead and empowered to make decisions on high value and complex claims globally, where claims arise across a variety of jurisdictions.

The role is client facing and in addition to coverage, legal liability and quantum analysis, will include considerable interaction with brokers, insureds, external providers and internal stakeholders. Our claims team is an industry leader providing opportunities to our adjusters to develop and grow their experience across Energy and Construction products.

How you’ll make an impact:

This role handles 'Major Loss' energy claims that have the highest level of complexity and the highest monetary exposure for the company. This may include coverage determinations, investigating the loss, conducting an independent assessment as to the company’s exposure, participation in developing and implementing the most cost effective and timely resolution of the claim, and quantum analysis, ensuring mitigation of indemnity and expense exposure while communicating developments and outcomes as necessary to all key internal and external stakeholders. It can also include cross-border claims handling, including awareness of legal and regulatory systems outside 'home' jurisdiction.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Technical Skills and Expertise: Market leading specialist knowledge in Major Loss Energy technical claims topics. Expert policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation. Market Leading knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation/ procedural requirements. Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and ADR skills. Experience in conducting technical claims audits and effectively following up on findings. Catastrophe management experience. Ability to manage claims outside local jurisdiction where appropriate, including understanding of local laws and regulation, regular interaction with claims team in originating jurisdiction and ensure regular reporting in both locations.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal. Strong presentation skills. Ability to deliver technical training to claims handling teams. Ability to influence claims stakeholders to effectively direct claims strategy. Strong senior stakeholder management experience, both internal (underwriting, distribution, actuarial, finance and executive management) and external (brokers, major account clients).
