How You Will Create An Impact
We are currently recruiting a Trade Credit Underwriter to join our Middle Market team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the AIG brand through broker engagement and assisting in new business and account management teams with onboarding functions, risk underwriting and general underwriting functions. The position commands a previous exposure to risk or commercial underwriting discipline, which includes buyer risk evaluation or commercial underwriting.
Main Areas Of Responsibility
- Support growth in the Middle market book of business by retaining and growing a portfolio of clients.
- Work as part of the dual pen account management team with a portfolio of clients ÂŁ10m - ÂŁ200m turnover to deliver our unique technology platform and provide underwriting functions.
- Maintaining first class customer service experience in line with agreed service levels.
- Supporting New Business underwriters with the procurement and onboarding of new policyholders.
- Credit analysis, limit approval within predefined authorities.
- Keeping up to date with market, economic, sector and country news.
- Support the monitoring of the Mid Market book.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, intermediaries, and service providers to bring on new business.
- Establish a culture of underwriting excellence through improved underwriting decision making risk selection and data quality including through rigorous adherence to Underwriter Scorecard KPIs.
- Self‑development utilizing available company resources to grow, including regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- Previous experience working in trade credit insurance is highly desirable.
- Understanding of commerce, economics, and accountancy.
- Credit analysis or commercial experience is beneficial (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow understanding).
- Analytical skills to assess all sizes of companies in a wide range of business sectors, including ability to articulate results, credit risk assessment, problem solve and provide recommendations.
- Able to quickly grasp different technology platforms to support customers.
- Pro‑active “team player” who can deliver the team objective as well as individual goals.
- Ensure policies and risks remain compliant with AIG underwriting guidelines, audit requirements, processes, and procedures.
- Ability to build strong relationships based on integrity and trust.
- Proficient with Excel and Word.
- Previous experience with Salesforce beneficial.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Excellent customer service disciplines, problem solving mentality.
- Ability to self‑manage, self‑driven and desire to further develop.
