This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious part‐qualified accountant who is keen to step up and develop their finance career. You will work within our Controllership Finance function and broaden your knowledge of financial reporting in a large organisation.

The role assists with the delivery of financial statements and other statutory reporting requirements for AIG UK, non‐insurance entities and the UK Solvency Group. Responsibilities include annual statutory finance processes, management of the audit engagement, ad‐hoc finance assistance for other AIG entities, support on internal (SOX) controls and delivery of required submissions to Companies House and other stakeholders in accordance with governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with statutory reporting requirements of AIG UK and the non‐insurance entities within the UK Group.
  • Assist with developing ESG reporting disclosures for UK entities to ensure compliance with evolving Sustainability Reporting Standards (UK SRS).
  • Develop UK GAAP/US GAAP technical experience and become a key SME for legal entity reporting.
  • Work with external auditors to deliver financial statements in line with applicable standards.
  • Assist with developing the overall control environment and internal governance requirements for each legal entity.
  • Ensure consistency in all processes and the integrated data flow from US GAAP ledger for downstream reporting purposes.
  • Key contact point for External Audit, Actuarial, Risk and Tax teams for all financial reporting topics and issues.
  • Review of principal balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with AIG internal controls.
  • Prepare results for key stakeholders such as the board directors and other members of the Finance Leadership team.
  • Together with Actuarial, ERM and Strategic Finance, assist with overseeing internal and external reporting consistency, and timely resolution of issues.
  • Develop and maintain efficient processes, maintaining policies and methodologies to support external reporting requirements.
What You'll Need To Succeed
  • Experience of working in finance roles in large and complex Financial Services organisations with complex systems.
  • Part qualified or newly qualified.
  • Strong UK GAAP technical accounting knowledge.
  • Self‐starter, team player and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfortable dealing with and explaining technical concepts to senior management.
