As part of our continued expansion plans for our Marine portfolio we now have an opportunity for a Cargo Underwriter. Working in an experienced and collegiate team you will play a key role in writing large and complex global cargo risks with dual stamping capabilities as part of the wider AIG group. We will give you autonomy to develop your skills and experience with scope to manage wider commercial projects as we continue to grow the Talbot marine offering.

Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To:

  • Attend broker meetings, client meetings, facilitation of company events and business-related travel.
  • Portfolio management.
  • Day to day servicing and underwriting of the portfolio.
  • Partnering with internal teams to drive portfolio performance, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Developing broker and client relationships by being market facing, developing new business in the process.

What You’ll Need To Succeed:

  • Marine cargo underwriting experience, Lloyd's or company market.
  • Confident with all subclasses of Cargo.
  • Proactive with the ability to work independently but also as part of a close-knit team.
  • Ability to manage an existing portfolio – renewals, endorsements, client meetings.
  • Confident in dealing with brokers, analysing new submissions, and making sound judgement calls.
  • Strong broker relationships and the ability to transact with brokers via Lloyd’s, phone, and email.
  • Understanding of aggregate monitoring, key exposure zones and ability to work effectively with the Cat modelling team.
  • Understanding of DUA and facilitated business.
