Syndicate 1183 underwrites a number of classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance.
How You Will Create An Impact
As an Assistant Underwriter in our Marine Hull team, you will be responsible for supporting the underwriting of risks aligned with our underwriting philosophy, appetite, and authority limits. Working as part of a close-knit team you will support and assist Senior Underwriters helping them deliver on strategy and business plans, with a focus on providing a professional, prompt service to brokers and clients.
In return, you will be offered training and support to progress with your underwriting career within a leading Lloyd’s syndicate.
Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring that business is conducted, processed, and administered in accordance with the prevailing applicable policies, procedures and agreed service levels.
- Support the Senior Underwriters through the process of taking up quotations, promised lines and management of non-material contract endorsements.
- Assist in ensuring that premium entries are reviewed and accurately maintained within the Talbot systems in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Act in accordance with all regulatory standards and principles at all times.
- Provide assistance as needed, to support the smooth running of the including the production of business reports, support for the business planning process and input into Marine Hull portfolio management.
- Assist underwriters with the administration of the document management and workflow systems including the copying and scanning of slips, contract certainty checklists, pricing pro-forma and other risk information as requested and maintenance of the syndicate’s files and records
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- Marine underwriting experience, ideally with exposure to Hull
- Knowledge of the Lloyd\’s market
- Chartered Insurance Institute – Certificate
- Attention to detail
- Analytical/ numerically literate
- Understanding of the insurance/Lloyd’s market
- Able to work as part of a team or independently
- Ability to multitask and prioritize with limited guidance
