Global Specialty is a global business, with full P&L accountability.

As a core underwriting pillar within AIG’s General Insurance business, Global Specialty is focused on complex commercial risks across five major product lines: Energy, Marine, Construction, Aviation and Credit Lines.

How you will create an impact

As the Global Head of Energy, you will report to the Global Head of Specialty and take the lead on all Energy product lines.

You will be accountable for executing the Energy underwriting strategy, delivering on growth and profitability targets, and driving alignment with broader business objectives.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and lead underwriting excellence across AIG’s Energy portfolio and drive sustained high performance, growth and innovation on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the global business strategy for Energy, ensuring alignment with AIG’s broader specialty business objectives and overall company goals.
  • Lead a high-performing team of approximately 180 Energy professionals across the globe, providing strategic direction and fostering collaboration across regions.

In addition, provide leadership direction and oversight to cross-functional support teams in finance, actuarial, claims and risk consulting.

  • Define and deliver on Global P&L for Energy, driving execution to meet growth and profitability targets.
  • Collaborate with Ceded Re to shape and optimize the reinsurance strategy.
  • Champion underwriting excellence across the Energy portfolio, in partnership with the CUO, by establishing clear risk appetite, line setting, underwriting standards, and pricing adequacy.
  • Identify and recommend new markets, products, services and tools and marketing strategies to support growth and competitive positioning.
  • Develop and maintain regular communication with regional teams to share best practices, strategic insights, and foster a strong community across all Energy lines.
  • Ensure reinsurance strategies are aligned with risk appetite at both individual risk and portfolio levels supporting risk aggregation management across all product lines.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of the Specialty business model, underwriting methodologies, and associated risks, applying this knowledge to inform strategic and operational decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with Global Specialty leadership to develop a shared understanding of the specialty strategy and ensure consistent, effective execution of the business model.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to design tools and strategies that attract, retain, and develop top talent, with a focus on building a high-performing team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, diversity, and inclusion across Energy lines business.
  • Champion claims excellence, positioning AIG as a leader in claims performance within the market.
  • Ensure a strong grasp of regulatory and compliance requirements, upholding AIG’s standards and protecting the interests of all stakeholders.
