Corporate Real Estate (CRE) at DHL Group is responsible for more than 12,000 properties across all DHL business units worldwide. This portfolio covers an area of more than 35 million m2 and is managed by around 1700 dedicated real estate experts worldwide.

As part of the Group’s Sustainability Road Map (published 2021), there are explicit sustainability commitments relating to real estate, the main one being the design of sustainable buildings with zero or nearly-zero operational carbon for new builds and long term leased buildings. This role supports the delivery of the Sustainable Building commitments focusing on Assessments, Business Case checks and further developing the Sustainable Building Framework (formally Carbon Neutral Building Framework) with a strong focus on photovoltaic, heating decarbonization and biodiversity – developing tools and supporting the regional teams in implementation globally.

The student requirements are as follows:

  • Bachelor Student or Master Student for the full duration of the internship OR
  • Graduated no longer than 3 years from the internship starting date.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the update of DHL's Sustainable Building Framework and process (formally Carbon Neutral Building Framework) in compliance with EPBD and DHL's SBTI targets.
  • Support the delivery of the Heating Decarbonization Strategy.
  • Support preparation of assessments, proposals and ESG business cases.
  • Conduct solar PV Assessments.
  • Support Energy Efficiency/Carbon Audits in DHL Sites.
  • Engage country teams to increase knowledge and understanding of sustainable buildings and methodology, support trainings.
  • Conduct research activities, analyses, develop analysis tools and concepts.
  • Support creation of user guides and communication material relating to the Sustainable Buildings Framework.
  • Manage assigned tasks while considering costs, deadlines, resources, quality and risks.
  • Ensure close alignment with other activities of the Sustainability team.
