About the Role:
As the ATD, you will work with the Professional Qualification Design and Development team and other learning delivery colleagues across AICPA & CIMA.
The underpinning educational approach for CIMA professional qualification (PQ) is that performance (of a role or task) equals competency. With a focus on IPD (initial professional development), you will manage the validity of education products. You will develop business, finance and task simulations (and their underpinning subcomponents) for incorporation into curriculums and implementation into assessment and learning experiences.
You’ll report into the Vice President of Examinations within Management Accounting.
You Will:
Technical leadership
- Provide technical decisions and justifications for content inclusion in the CGMA PQ.
- Monitor the profession and emerging standards and understand its impact on the qualification.
- Work with the PQ design and development team to design task and role simulations.
- Ensure agreement on legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide input on the development and updating of technical content in the CGMA PQ.
- Provide support and decision-making for CGMA PQ content.
- Source and ensure the provision of academic and practice-based resources for PQ content development.
- Respond to and provide justifications to queries regarding the curriculum, learning and assessment.
Content pipeline management
- Understand, articulate and document important trends and changes within finance pertaining to activities, tasks, roles, processes and departments.
- Manage a pipeline of new or updated content for the professional qualification.
- Understand item development constraints and work with staff on an overall plan.
- Define Section obsolescence and technical accuracy targets and plans.
- Lead the Section Committee activities, including review of content, providing updates on changes in professional standards, working on ongoing updates to content specification outlines, and providing expertise on new item type idea generation and development.
Documentation and reporting
- Articulate important concepts or areas of practice for development and incorporation into curriculum, exams and learning.
- Articulate the pipeline of content in development to ensure coordination with development and delivery teams.
Collaboration
- Work with and support teams across the MA education unit to support curriculum, learning and assessment development.
- Recruit and maintain internal and external SMEs and secure their supporting engagement. Establish relationships with all of the volunteers. Support their expertise to gain support for your Section.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None. However, the role may be required to locate, define and contract the commissioning of content for development of the CGMA PQ.
You Have:
Chartered Accountant (CGMA / ACMA / FCMA) (or relevant equivalent Level 11 Masters) with professional experience in the relevant portfolio.
We are looking for ATDs with demonstrable expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Management Accounting
- Financial Accounting
- Data and technology
- Strategy and risk
Core requirements are as follows:
- In-depth knowledge of management accounting.
- Represent the needs of management accounting to other internal groups responsible for curriculum, test and learning development.
- Guide a volunteer Committee or process groups in the oversight, and review, of aspects of the qualification.
- Support several professionals who are not management accountants.
- Keen to understand and be potentially proficient at curriculum, test and learning development/production.
