What is the Role: AIB UK is a subsidiary of AIB Group, Ireland's largest bank, and a leading bank in Europe. The UK business focuses on full service retail & business banking in Northern Ireland and Corporate Banking in GB. This is a great opportunity to join a growing Technology & Data Team for the UK business that sits under the UK Chief Operating Officer. This is a strategic role, working closely with the Group function to protect the bank and its customers. You will be working with senior stakeholders, including the Managing Director of AIB UK and their senior management team. You will also on occasion have the opportunity to present to Board committees.
This role offers a huge variety of exposure across Cyber and Technology.
- Key accountabilities:
- Work with Group Cyber teams to implement effective strategies to mitigate identified cyber risks, aligning them with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with IT and UK business units to ensure that risk mitigation actions are practical and do not unnecessarily hinder business operations.
- Engage with senior leadership, including the UK Chief Operating Officer (COO), to provide regular updates on the organization's cyber risk posture.
- Collaborate with key business units and external stakeholders to ensure an aligned approach to risk management across the enterprise.
- Provide detailed risk reporting to the UK Risk Committee and relevant Board governance bodies.
- Ensure that Cyber & IT risk metrics and key risk indicators (KRIs) are incorporated into regular risk reporting mechanisms.
- Maintain robust governance processes to ensure accountability and visibility around risk decisions.
- Ensure effective oversight of Cyber & Technology Services provided to the UK by group including incident management, RCA Management, UK Cyber and Technology MI, incident trend analysis.
- Collect and analyse information, problem-solve, and make decisions.
- Create engaging presentations using PowerPoint for discussion/decision at Senior Forums & Committees.
- Collaborate with AIB Group Technology & Data to develop a combined ROI/UK digital delivery to bridge critical gaps, maximising re-use of Group Digital Assets where appropriate to ensure a complete product and service offering is available to AIB UK customers.
- Stay current with cyber threat intelligence and market trends, proactively liaising with Group Cyber teams in regular Forums & Committees.
- Promote a culture of cyber awareness, working with Group Cyber teams, through staff training and engagement programme.
What you Will Bring:
- Proven experience working within technology functions, with a strong foundation in IT systems, infrastructure, or digital platforms.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity & IT assurance, risk management, or related fields within financial services.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001), and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies and tools.
- Demonstrated experience in the establishment, implementation and assurance of standards and practices pertaining to technology management including technical configuration, security and service resilience.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex risks and mitigation strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
