AIApply is growing fast (now +1m users), but the product needs to tighten up. We’re looking for an execution-first Product Manager on a contract basis to help improve product quality, simplify user flows, fix friction points, and ensure we deliver our core value consistently.
This is a hands-on role focused on fixing, improving, and shipping — not building slide decks.
What you’ll own:
- End-to-end product quality
- Activation, onboarding, and feature adoption
- The short-term tactical roadmap
- Turning user feedback and data into clear product direction
- Working directly with founders, engineering, and support
- Shipping high-impact improvements quickly
What you’ll do:
- Audit the product and identify friction, drop-offs, and confusing UX
- Improve onboarding, activation funnels, and key user flows
- Prioritise fixes and improvements that materially reduce churn
- Translate insights from PostHog + Stripe into clear actions
- Write tight, unambiguous specs for engineering
- Review support tickets and identify recurring issues
- Ensure features deliver value end-to-end
- Help structure meaningful but lightweight experiments
What you bring:
- 5+ years of product management in a startup or SaaS environment
- Strong understanding of product metrics (activation, retention, funnels)
- Ability to turn chaos into clarity
- Experience improving onboarding or reducing churn
- Excellent communication — clear specs, clear decisions
- Fast, practical, no-nonsense execution
Strong nice-to-haves (not required):
- Ability to query your own data (SQL, PostHog)
- Experience with Stripe data (plans, churn, LTV, cohorts)
- Coding ability (PHP, Laravel, Python) to inspect code or run scripts
- Light ability to wireframe or create UX flows
- Previous experience with a high-growth consumer or prosumer product
If they tick one or two of these boxes, you’ve hit gold.
Success looks like (first 6–8 weeks):
- Top friction points identified and fixed
- Core flows noticeably smoother
- Fewer user complaints and clearer user value
- Clear prioritisation and roadmap for the next quarter
- Activation and retention trending in the right direction
- Engineering shipping the right things in the right order
Contract details:
- 3–6 month contract (with option to extend)
- ~20–40 hours/week depending on candidate
- Remote or hybrid
- Competitive day rate
If you want, I’ll prepare:
- A very short LinkedIn version
- A take-home test that filters real PMs from talkers
- A scorecard to evaluate candidates
- Questions to identify execution vs. theory PMs
