We combine world-class AI research with real-world applications that make a difference. At Tractable, you’ll collaborate with brilliant minds, work on transformative projects, and contribute to technology that helps people when they need it most.

At Tractable, we build artificial intelligence that transforms how the world recovers from accidents. Our industry-leading computer vision software has helped millions of people globally by instantly assessing vehicle damage. Now, we are entering an exciting new chapter: we have recently launched our first proprietary hardware solution to complement our core AI platform.

As we expand our physical footprint and bundle hardware with our SaaS offerings, our US financial operations are growing in complexity. We are looking for a highly capable Head of Finance to take full ownership of our US entity's general ledger, compliance, and revenue operations. While your core focus is the US, you will also act as a key player in our global expansion, supporting cross-entity hardware operations, driving system implementations, and helping us define the metrics that track our success. This is a senior individual contributor role.

Key Responsibilities

  • US Entity Accounting
    • General Ledger Ownership: Own the complete US entity general ledger and standalone financial statements, ensuring seamless integration into the group financials.
    • Close Processes: Execute the comprehensive US entity month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Compliance & Controls: Ensure full compliance with US GAAP across all local operations. Maintain and improve the internal control environment as the business scales.
    • Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee day-to-day US accounting operations, including payroll, cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and T&E approvals.
    • Audit & Tax Support: Support external financial audits and corporate tax compliance.
  • Hardware Operations
    • Order-to-Cash: Manage hardware Accounts Receivable (AR) and the end-to-end order-to-cash operations.
    • Revenue Recognition: Own accounting treatment and revenue recognition for hardware, software subscriptions, and bundled offerings under US GAAP.
    • Inventory Accounting: Design and oversee inventory accounting, hardware cost tracking, physical inventory reconciliations and asset lifecycle accounting processes.
    • Cross-Entity Support: Provide cross-functional accounting and operational support for hardware initiatives rolling out across our other international entities.
  • KPIs & Business Partnership
    • Metric Tracking: Support the development, tracking, and monitoring of critical SaaS and hardware KPIs, ensuring the integrity of the underlying financial data.
    • Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a finance partner to non-financial stakeholders, helping sales and operations leaders understand their departmental spend and commercial drivers.
    • Financial Planning: Support the budgeting and rolling forecast processes.
  • Systems, Automation and AI
    • System Implementation: Drive financial system implementations and configuration, specifically designing workflows tailored to our new hardware operations.
    • Tax Automation: Implement and manage US sales tax compliance automation tools (e.g. Avalara).
    • Asset Tracking: Design and implement efficient physical asset tracking and reconciliation workflows and systems.
    • AI Innovation: Leverage AI to improve already existing processes and drive efficiencies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience & Certification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified (or US CPA equivalent) and 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a management or entity-lead capacity.
  • US GAAP Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience owning a general ledger and running a full month-end close under US GAAP.
  • Operational Exposure: Navigated B2B billing operations, hardware/SaaS revenue streams, and multi-state sales tax compliance.
  • Systems Experience: Experience with ERP implementations or complex system configurations. NetSuite experience is highly preferred. You don't just use systems; you help build them.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in high-growth, fast-paced environments and comfortable zooming into the detail and zooming out to support group-wide global initiatives.

Salary band: £100-115k + equity
