A little about us: incident.io is the leading AI incident response platform, relied on by some of the best engineering teams in the world when things go wrong. Since launching in 2021, we've helped over 2,000 companies, including OpenAI, Netflix, and Airbnb, run more than 1 million incidents. The stakes are real, the talent is insane, and somehow it's a genuinely lovely place to work. We all pull our weight, go the extra mile, and put in the bit of magic most companies don't have time for, all while having fun and never taking ourselves too seriously. We've raised $96 million from Index Ventures, Insight Partners, and Point Nine, and we're growing fast. There's never been a better time to join.

The role in one line: As a GTM Engineer at incident.io, the revenue team is your user base - you build the internal products that let them stop doing the robot work and start doing the human work, and you feel the impact within the hour, not a quarterly NPS score.

What that looks like day to day: You'll form a view on how our GTM system should work - why each tool exists, what role it plays, and what shouldn't exist at all - and drive the stack towards it. That means building automation, enrichment, and agent workflows that eliminate manual work across the BDR, AE, CS, Marketing, and GTM leadership motions. You'll sit with the revenue team weekly to find problems worth solving, root-cause the ones that look small but aren't, and ship improvements daily. You'll master new tools fast, and take a stance on which ones deserve a place in the stack - writing code where it's the right answer, whether that's internal tools, integrations, or agents, not just configuring SaaS. And you'll support the GTM systems' stack end-to-end, helping resolve issues tied to any or all components for end users, via automation or manual intervention.

Who you are: You spot things before anyone asks you to. If a rep's about to hit the same wall for the third time this week, you've usually already fixed it. You're a builder at heart - you've written code and built real systems people rely on, and you've got a portfolio of things people actually use every day, not just demoed once. You've seen go-to-market from the inside. You're fluent in outbound, sales, and success tooling, and you know where this stuff is headed, not just where it's been. You use AI heavily in your own work and have strong, tested opinions on where it genuinely helps and where it's just noise. You're product minded, not just technically minded - you get to the real user problem and create clarity for others on the solution. You ask why a tool exists before you ask how to configure it. You think in patterns and clean architecture, not one-off fixes. You root-cause rather than patch, and you're not afraid to take a stance on the fix, even if it's the harder one. Startup life suits you. There's no playbook here - you ship, you learn, you iterate, and a CS lead telling you the tool's not quite right changes your plan, not your mood.

Supporting you: We work hard and we think life outside work matters just as much. Our benefits pack is built to support both:

  • Private medical insurance: Seriously good cover - we want you and the people you love to be looked after.
  • Competitive annual leave: Showing up at your best requires switching off, and we make sure you have time to do that.
  • First Friday of every month off: Yes, seriously.
  • Enhanced pension: We put real money in, because future-you deserves better than an afterthought.
  • Meaningful equity: We're rapidly scaling, and everyone who helps shape the outcome should share in it.
  • Unlimited AI spend: For everyone, not just engineers. We're all-in on AI across the company, and we expect you to be too.
  • Generous parental leave: The early days with a new baby matter more than anything we're doing here, and we want you to be present for them.
  • Two budgets that have your back: £1000 to invest in your setup, £500 a year to invest in yourself.

How to prepare for a job interview at AI Startups UK

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If AI Startups UK uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
