Level: Equity Partner / Senior Managing Director equivalent
A leading global consulting organisation is seeking an exceptional senior executive to build and lead its next-generation Enterprise AI Transformation business. The successful individual will create an integrated global capability spanning:
- Enterprise AI strategy and operating model design
- Generative and Agentic AI transformation
- AI-enabled business and workflow redesign
- Data, platform and technology foundations
- Responsible AI, governance and assurance
- Adoption, organisational change and workforce transformation
- Commercialisation and measurable value realisation
The role requires a rare combination of market credibility, commercial leadership, technical fluency and large-scale delivery experience. The Senior Partner will advise boards and executive teams on how AI changes the organisation itself: its operating model, decision rights, cost base, workforce, customer proposition and sources of competitive advantage. This is a practice-building and market-shaping role with significant investment support and the opportunity to create a major global consulting business.
The Executive Mandate
The Senior Partner will be accountable for four connected outcomes:
- Build the Market Proposition
Create a differentiated Enterprise AI Transformation proposition capable of competing for the most significant board-level AI mandates in the market. The proposition should connect strategic ambition with practical execution, covering the full transformation lifecycle. The successful executive will translate rapidly evolving AI capabilities into a clear and credible enterprise agenda for CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, CTOs and Chief AI Officers.
- Originate and Grow a Major Consulting Business
Own the commercial development of the practice, personally originating complex, multi-year transformation engagements. The successful candidate will bring established C-suite relationships and demonstrate the ability to convert executive dialogue into significant consulting revenue. Commercial responsibilities will include:
- Originating strategic AI transformation programmes
- Expanding existing priority accounts
- Opening new board-level relationships
- Creating repeatable propositions and managed offerings
- Establishing alliance-led routes to market
- Maintaining strong commercial discipline, pricing and margin
- Building a balanced portfolio across advisory, implementation and transformation delivery
The role is expected to develop into a nine-figure global business over time. Once established, the Senior Partner should be capable of personally influencing or originating approximately $15 million to $30 million in annual consulting revenue, while enabling significantly broader revenue across the global practice. The role requires an executive who can remain accountable beyond the strategy phase.
- Lead Major Client Programmes
The Senior Partner will lead major client programmes involving combinations of:
- Enterprise strategy
- Process and workflow redesign
- Data modernisation
- AI platform implementation
- Cloud and enterprise technology
- Responsible AI
- Model risk and assurance
- Organisational change
- Talent and capability building
The successful individual must be credible leading complex programmes valued from $10 million to more than $100 million, involving multiple business units, technologies, geographies and executive stakeholders. They will provide senior oversight from initial value case through implementation and realised business impact. This is not a role for an executive who hands delivery to another team after the strategy has been presented.
- Build the Leadership Team and Delivery Capability
Recruit, develop and lead a high-calibre global team of Partners, Managing Directors, AI transformation leaders, architects, engineers, data specialists and industry experts. The Senior Partner will establish a federated practice model that combines:
- Central intellectual property and quality standards
- Sector-specific market propositions
- Regional client leadership
- Shared technology and alliance assets
The role will initially build a focused senior leadership team before scaling a wider international community of more than 100 practitioners. The individual will be expected to create a culture combining entrepreneurial pace with enterprise-grade delivery discipline.
Enterprise AI Strategy
Advise executive teams on where AI can create meaningful competitive advantage rather than simply where the technology can be deployed. Help clients redesign workflows, organisational structures, decision rights and accountabilities around AI. The Partner should be capable of designing centralised, federated and decentralised AI operating models according to organisational maturity and regulatory context. Establish disciplined mechanisms connecting AI investment to measurable enterprise value. The individual must be comfortable engaging CFOs and investment committees, not merely technology sponsors.
Agentic AI and Intelligent Workflows
Shape enterprise strategies for the adoption of AI agents, copilots and intelligent workflow platforms. Deep software engineering expertise is not mandatory, but the ability to challenge and lead highly technical teams is essential.
Governance, Risk and Assurance
Develop governance frameworks that accelerate responsible adoption rather than create unnecessary bureaucracy. The successful individual should understand why probabilistic AI systems require different approaches to testing and assurance than traditional deterministic software.
Ecosystem and Alliances
Develop senior relationships across the enterprise AI ecosystem, potentially including: Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, NVIDIA, OpenAI, ServiceNow, SAP, Oracle, Snowflake, Databricks. The role will determine where the consultancy should partner, build proprietary capability or remain technology-independent.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate is likely to be an established Partner, Senior Managing Director, Global Practice Leader, Chief AI Officer or Enterprise Transformation Executive. They will bring approximately 18 to 25 years of relevant experience, including significant leadership responsibility within consulting, enterprise technology or a complex global organisation. A substantial record of originating and growing consulting revenue, established relationships with board and C-suite stakeholders, leadership of major enterprise AI, data or technology transformations, experience building or materially scaling a consulting practice, accountability for complex delivery, not solely strategy or thought leadership, strong commercial judgement and financial management, experience leading multidisciplinary international teams, credibility across both business and technology audiences, and evidence of translating AI investment into measurable business outcomes.
Highly Desirable Experience
- Building a new AI, data or digital transformation proposition
- Leading a business of £50 million or more
- Personally originating £15 million or more in annual consulting revenue
- Delivering large-scale regulated-industry programmes
- Developing proprietary assets, accelerators or managed offerings
- Working with private equity or portfolio companies
- Leading strategic technology alliances
- Experience in North America, Europe or multiple global regions
- Exposure to Agentic AI, enterprise copilots or AI-native operating models
Leadership Characteristics
The strongest candidates will combine several qualities rarely found in one executive. Able to identify market demand, create propositions, build senior relationships and convert ideas into profitable revenue.
Transformation Operator
Comfortable taking responsibility for execution, organisational change and realised outcomes. Capable of simplifying complex AI issues without oversimplifying the strategic implications.
Technically Fluent Leader
Able to engage credibly with architects, engineers, data scientists and technology partners without presenting themselves as the principal technical specialist.
Practice Builder
Able to attract exceptional people, create followership and establish a distinctive consulting culture. Prepared to challenge inflated business cases, weak governance, poor data foundations and technology-led programmes lacking genuine business ownership.
What This Role Is Not
- A pure AI thought-leadership position
- A research or data-science leadership role
- A technology alliance sales role
- A strategy-only Partner mandate
- A delivery role without commercial accountability
- A traditional systems-integration leadership position
The successful individual must combine strategy leadership, commercial origination and execution accountability.
Measures of Success
Success will be assessed against:
- Consulting revenue originated
- Quality and size of qualified pipeline
- Strategic client relationships created
- Programme delivery and realised client value
- Practice revenue and profitability
- Senior talent attracted and retained
- Intellectual property developed
- Alliance revenue and ecosystem influence
- Market reputation
- Repeat and referenceable client engagements
Compensation
Package Range $5m+ per annum. A highly competitive senior Partner package will be constructed around the successful candidate’s experience, current economics, client relationships and growth case.
