AI Connect have been engaged by a biotech scale-up building intelligent detection devices that combine advanced sensors with machine learning. This project is to support the build out of their technology which identifies biological signals from environmental data in real time, with applications across biosecurity, agriculture and environmental monitoring.
We are looking for a research/product focused Data Scientist to help turn complex sensor data into machine learning models that run directly on embedded devices.
Role responsibilities:
- You'll work closely with R&D scientists, hardware engineers and product teams to build the machine learning capability behind a sensor-based biological detection platform.
Key focus areas:
- Define dataset requirements and experimental design to support reliable ML models
- Build classification models from sensor-derived environmental data
- Develop reproducible ML pipelines and feature extraction for time-series sensor signals
- Work with hardware and firmware teams to ensure sensor data quality and support embedded / edge ML deployment
- Provide technical leadership on ML strategy, datasets and experimentation
Experience Required:
- 5+ years in applied machine learning / data science
- Strong statistics and experimental design background
- Experience with sensor data, time-series signals or IoT systems
- Advanced Python (scikit-learn, pandas, TensorFlow or PyTorch)
- Experience building models using noisy real-world datasets
Nice to Have:
- Experience with advanced sensor technologies
- Signal processing expertise
- Embedded ML / edge deployment
- Designing data collection pipelines for ML
