A&I Coaches has kept the north east of Scotland moving since 1985. Alongside our passenger transport fleet, we run a busy workshop and MOT testing station in Stonehaven, looking after our own buses and coaches as well as customer vehicles.
We are looking for an experienced, qualified mechanic to join our workshop team. No two days look the same: you will maintain and repair a varied fleet, from our own coaches to customers' cars and vans. If you are a Class 4 MOT tester, we will put your skills to use in our testing station. Good mechanics are hard to find, so we make it worth your while. We adapt your hours and holidays around your life, not the other way around.
What you will be doing:
- Servicing and maintaining a varied fleet of vehicles
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out repairs
- Carrying out Class 4 MOT tests in line with DVSA standards
- Inspecting vehicles to spot worn or damaged parts before they become problems
- Using diagnostic equipment, power tools and hand tools
- Keeping accurate service, repair and MOT records in our workshop system
What we are looking for
- Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic, with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in vehicle maintenance, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Current Class 4 MOT tester authorisation (strongly preferred)
- Confidence with power tools, hand tools and diagnostic equipment
- Reliable, with great attention to detail, and comfortable working independently and in a team
- Full UK driving licence preferred
- PCV (category D) licence is a bonus, not a requirement
- Right to work in the UK is required (we are unable to offer sponsorship)
