Position Summary
The Analyst plays a key role in the continual development/refinement of banner strategy, measuring or projecting performance of various strategies & initiatives, and developing targets for sales and margin. May include budget/forecast v. actual, TY v. LY, test v. control, indexing, managing external relationships with data providers, or other analysis. This role also helps support the Ad process and tracking of Vendor Allowances (VA). This position interacts with senior leadership and other internal departments to advise and model strategic decisions. Supports the distribution of financial reporting including but not limited to sales, margin, VA, and helps maintain the tools that support it.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for weekly/period/quarterly/annual reporting including but not limited to; sales & margin, indexing, vendor allowances, and Ad financials.
- Create, modify, and support a user base with the utilization of Excel based tools and macros.
- Lead special projects measuring either actual performance or projecting the potential impacts of various strategies and initiatives.
- Contributes to and influences the development and achievement of category-level sales and margin targets by period.
- Support team through cross-training of duties as backup when task owner is not available.
- Assist with training of new Pricing Analysts and acts as a role model and/or mentor for less experienced team members.
- Frequent interaction with senior management.
Basic Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with a strong emphasis on Excel (macros) and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of MicroStrategy (DSS), MS SharePoint, MS Access, Essbase/Smart View, and/or SEGA (legacy IBM mainframe system).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience
- 3+ years retail industry experience.
- 2+ years working with strategy and/or analytics.

- Proven organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
