Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an existing fire assay technician to take on additional responsibility in the delivery of fire assay training, either at our UK laboratory facilities, overseas laboratories, or special projects like mine-site outsourcing services where you would be working as part of a wider on-site implementation team.
The role would involve you coordinating and delivering specific training in all aspects of fire assay practice to AHK staff or external client employees, either within the UK, or in an overseas projects environment. This is a role that is in addition to your current responsibilities. When required, you would be called upon in an ad hoc fashion, with notice, for training purposes or installation and start-up of fire assay services in an overseas situation. Overseas assignments could be 2 – 6 week sprints depending on the nature of the project working as part of a wider team. It is difficult to predict the frequency of travel (not often), but we do have a requirement now for UK training support and a laboratory development project overseas implementation before Q3 2025.
Reporting to the Group Outsourcing Lead you would be responsible for training in all aspects of the fire assay process from weighing of test samples, through to, and including, prill processing procedures including Dore Bullion analysis. Training in FAAS, low silver determination and prill processing will be provided as part of your personal development. I estimate 4 – 6 months training in new disciplines as a requirement.
A key aspect of the role is basic knowledge of fire assay equipment and supporting services such as make-up air systems from a maintenance perspective. Being able to troubleshoot on equipment (within reason) would be of benefit. Your experience in fire assay practice would be invaluable in helping to shape and design fire assay process and equipment placement from an operational perspective in new build projects.
