The Education Manager will support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of community-based education initiatives in Birmingham. This role includes providing literacy support, promoting youth empowerment, delivering digital and vocational skills training, and advocating for the educational needs of vulnerable groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Education & Training Delivery: Facilitate literacy and numeracy sessions for children, youth, and adults. Support after-school programs, homework clubs, and mentoring for young people. Deliver skills‐building workshops (digital literacy, financial literacy, employability skills). Provide English language support (ESOL) for diaspora and migrant communities.
  • Program Coordination & Development: Assist in developing curricula, lesson plans, and teaching materials. Coordinate with schools, youth groups, and local councils on education initiatives. Support planning and execution of education‐related events (workshops, debates, cultural exchanges).
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Track attendance, participation, and learning outcomes. Support data collection and prepare progress reports for donors and stakeholders. Document case studies and success stories from education programs.
  • Advocacy & Outreach: Promote equal access to education within diaspora communities. Advocate for inclusive and culturally sensitive learning environments. Represent AHEAD at local education forums, stakeholder meetings, and community events.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Education, Youth Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or education projects (paid or voluntary) is desirable.
  • Strong facilitation and public‐speaking skills.
  • Ability to adapt content to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of multicultural and diaspora education challenges is an asset.
