An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Operations team at Lancashire Renewables Ltd. working on a 2‑shift system (5:45 am – 2:15 pm and 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm) at our Thornton facility.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Operations Team Leader (Mobile Plant) will be responsible for the management and safe operation of the waste facility with particular focus on mobile plant duties, operational leadership and people first‑line management.
What You Will Bring
- Proven experience in team leadership, including people management and development.
- Knowledge of mobile plant operations.
- Understanding of Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments and Work Instructions.
- Work experience in a waste processing, manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
- Proficiency using PC and IT systems.
While we offer and encourage training and development opportunities, the following would be highly beneficial:
- National Plant Operators Registration Scheme or equivalent for Loading Shovel (FEL), Teletruck, Mobile Grapple, Forklift Truck (FLT), Roll On Roll Off (RoRo).
Applicants must be willing to undertake this training once in post.

Who are we?
Lancashire Renewables Ltd was established for the operation and management of the two waste treatment facilities built for the Lancashire Waste Contract. Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year, processing over 5,000 tonnes of residual (black bin bag) waste per week and diverting 95% of this material away from landfill. We aim to achieve a sustainable future for Lancashire by providing services to process biodegradable and non‑biodegradable community waste. Our people are vital in helping us achieve this. Employees work in a variety of operations, maintenance, logistics and support roles across our two sites, and we actively encourage internal growth through development and training programmes.
