An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Operations team at Lancashire Renewables Ltd. working across our Leyland and Thornton facilities. The role can be based at either site but travel to the other site will be required on a weekly basis.
The Environmental Advisor will be responsible for providing direct support to the SHEQ Manager to achieve industry leading levels of performance in terms of environmental management and compliance in accordance with the company quality systems and all legislative requirements.
To be successful in this position, it is essential that you hold an IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent, or CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Medium Risk Non-Hazardous Waste Treatment and Transfer. Knowledge and experience in the following areas is also critical for this role:
- Relevant experience in waste, manufacturing, chemical or similar working environments.
- Experience of interacting with and reporting to the Environment Agency.
Whilst training and development opportunities are provided and encouraged for our roles, the following skills and knowledge would be highly beneficial:
- Qualification in NEBOSH or IOSH.
- Ability to maintain a positive health, safety and environmental management attitude.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Good verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Planning and scheduling of own work activities, audits and reporting.
- Experience in quality systems, system utilisation, data management, managing budgets, and maintaining accurate records.

Lancashire Renewables Ltd was established for the operation and management of the two waste treatment facilities built for the Lancashire Waste Contract. Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (black bin bag) waste per week and divert 95% of this material away from landfill. Our aim is to achieve a sustainable future for Lancashire by providing services to process biodegradable and non-biodegradable community waste and our people are vital in helping us achieve this.
