The Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, managing, and enhancing cloud and platform infrastructure to enable resilient operations and effective software delivery across the organisation. This role focuses on developing and supporting the cloud platforms, automation capabilities, and engineering practices that underpin the delivery and performance of the wider commercial technology landscape. The successful candidate will work across a diverse technology environment, including Azure, AWS, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Infor ERP, Infor Revenue Management, Infor Product Management, Bynder, and associated integrations. They will be responsible for maintaining cloud infrastructure, supporting deployment pipelines, and managing platform services to ensure applications remain secure, reliable, and highly available.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and enhance cloud infrastructure and platform services to support scalable and reliable operations.
- Partner with Engineering teams to improve developer experience, engineering efficiency, and delivery outcomes.
- Manage and optimise CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and deployment workflows.
- Ensure platform reliability through effective monitoring, resilience improvements, and operational best practices.
- Implement and uphold infrastructure security controls, compliance requirements, and governance standards.
- Support platform troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis to maintain service stability.
- Develop and improve infrastructure-as-code practices and automation capabilities.
- Create, maintain, and enhance platform documentation, processes, and operational runbooks.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to evolve platform engineering practices and capabilities.
Technical Skills Required:
- Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms, including Azure and/or AWS.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code practices, preferably using Terraform.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and delivery pipelines, including Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
- Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies, with Docker and Kubernetes experience beneficial.
- Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar technologies.
- Understanding of monitoring, observability, and platform performance management tools.
- Knowledge of identity and access management principles and solutions.
- Understanding of networking concepts and core infrastructure fundamentals.
- Experience applying cloud security practices, governance frameworks, and compliance standards.
- Exposure to enterprise application hosting, platform integrations, and related technologies.
- Salesforce experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
