Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site HGV Recovery Driver role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The HGV Recovery Driver will be responsible for attending roadside and site-based breakdowns, safely recovering HGVs and other commercial vehicles, and transporting them to designated locations or workshops. Daily tasks include conducting pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, securing loads and vehicles for recovery, and operating recovery equipment in line with safety standards and company procedures. The role involves responding to call-outs, liaising with dispatch and customers to provide clear updates, and completing all required documentation and digital reports accurately. The driver will also assist with basic fault-finding, ensure compliance with all legal and company policies, and maintain a clean, roadworthy recovery vehicle at all times.

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL Class A (or UK equivalent HGV license) with a strong record of safe Truck Driving experience.
  • Knowledge of DOT Regulations (or applicable UK/European transport regulations) and commitment to full legal compliance.
  • Experience operating and manoeuvring a heavy Truck and recovery equipment in varied environments and conditions.
  • Ability to manage unloading, securing loads, and handling vehicles safely during recovery and transport.
  • Previous experience in vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, or commercial transport is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, situational awareness, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Good verbal communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including some evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as required.
  • Clean driving record and the ability to pass any required background, health, or fitness-for-duty checks.
