We are currently seeking individuals to join our Talent Pool for a Trainee Firefighter at Southampton Airport. The role will be based at Southampton Airport.

Job Description
To maintain a fully effective Emergency Fire service in order to save life and to protect property in line with company standards and licensing requirements.
Principle accountabilities
- Committed to promoting a security culture of vigilance and security awareness through adhering to the security policy, Managing Responsibly System (MRS) and Security Management System (SeMS).
- Deal with emergency situations in accordance with specified regulations/procedures in order to save life and protect property.
- Respond to airport medical emergencies and accidents e.g. road traffic accidents, fires, chemical incidents, and special service call, both on and off the airport.
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external bodies to ensure an effective integrated response to emergency situations and promote a professional image of Southampton Airport.
- Maintain required level of technical competencies as specified by the regulator in order to uphold the airport licence.
- Promote safe working practices to ensure that self, colleagues, and customers are not put at risk, and that health, safety and the environment are given the highest priority at all times.
- Be responsible for personal and team compliance with Company Health and Safety Policies, ensuring safe working practices to minimise risk to self, work colleagues, customers and staff is minimised.
- To ensure that the activities required by the safety, security and environmental/sustainable development management systems are delivered throughout the areas of responsibility of this role.
- Comply with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role.
- Ensure that any systems and procedures introduced by the Company are effectively implemented and adhered to.
- Carry out Wildlife Hazard Management duties ensuring compliance with UK (EU Regulations) 139/2014 regulations providing continuous bird control during licencing hours.
- Maintain equipment for operational readiness to specified standards in order to meet internal and external audit requirements.
- To carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit for the purpose of personal development, or as may be reasonably required by the company.
Qualifications And Experience
- Firefighter – A valid certificate of competence in the role of Airport Fire Fighter is essential.
- Trainee Firefighter – Training will be given for individuals that do not hold a valid certificate.
Essential Entry Qualifications:
- Current UK Driving Licence
- Meets and maintains Southampton Airport medical standards.
- Meets and maintains Southampton Airport physical assessment standards
Desirable
- First Aid (essential after initial training)
- LGV (Class C) Licence
- Fire arms licence (essential after initial training)

Technical competencies are those derived from the Southampton Airport Technical Competency Framework:
- Save life at aircraft accident.
- Extinguish fire.
- Maintain operational readiness of resources.
- Prevent occurrence of emergencies through management of aerodrome hazards and risks.
- Mobilise resources to respond to emergency.
- Site position fire fighting vehicles at accident/incident.
- Contain and control spillages or leaks of hazardous substances.
- Develop self and others to improve performance.
- Take responsibility for effective personal performance.
The role operates within the principle policies and instructions from ICAO, EASA, CAA, HSE and SIAL Policies. Refers most decisions to a higher level but will be expected to use own judgement in carrying out daily duties and in emergency situations.
