We have an exciting opportunity at AGS Airports Limited for a Capital Category Manager to join our Supply Chain team. This is a permanent and full-time role and will be based at Glasgow Airport.

Job Description
The Capital Category Manager is responsible for leading tenders, negotiations and supplier evaluations for Capital Frameworks across AGS airports, developing and monitoring Service Level Agreements with external providers and key stakeholders. As a senior manager, they will be an integral part of the organisational leadership team and be accountable for driving value for money, ensuring strong governance and adherence to the AGS frameworks in place.
They will be responsible for:
- Sourcing and Procurement Strategies
- Supplier management
- Pre-contract admin for NEC Frameworks and WPEPs
- Strategic direction on sourcing of capital projects through Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts
- Identifying group wide opportunities for economies of scale
- Delivering value in capital projects
They will, through excellent, effective leadership, challenge the business to achieve new levels of success and effectiveness in sourcing and procurement strategies, commercial arrangements, supplier relationships, innovation, and rigor in process and specification challenges. They will have an extremely proactive approach and a passion for delivering exceptional results to the bottom line by working.
Principal accountabilities
- Responsibility for leading the delivery of financial and non-financial value improvement activities identified in the Procurement business plan specifically within capital categories of: Building, M&E, Civil Engineering, Design, Specialist Contractors
- Responsibility for leading the delivery of financial & non-financial value improvement activities identified in the Capital Delivery Plan
- Responsibility for ensuring fit for purpose Frameworks (including EPC) are in place to support the Capital Delivery Team improve competitiveness and value for money across the Capital Programme
- Establish business requirements with business leads and execute as an active partner by providing innovative solutions
- Full accountability for the procurement contract process including managing the gateway approval process
- Support transformational activities to build procurement organisational capabilities and improve procurement efficiency
- Be an active champion of Procurement in internal stakeholder meetings
- Work with the local contracting community to raise the profile of each of the airports as an appealing client
- Strategically review which companies AGS contract with and the way in which we contract with our suppliers.
- Manage Key supplier performance by establishing service level agreements, creating individual KPIs, arranging regular update meetings with key suppliers and stakeholders
- Ensuring that department governance & processes are maintained, compliant with agreed internal and external procurement standards and legislation
- To identify business supply risks across the airport and ensure appropriate action is taken to manage and mitigate risk
Qualifications and experience
Essential
- Minimum 5 years' Procurement experience within the construction category, tendering NEC 3 or 4 Construction Frameworks with extensive 'hands on experience' in a similar role in a complex, high value procurement environment
- Experience in full project life cycle (Pre and Post Contract) in the NEC form of contract
- Experience in operating as a business partner in a customer focussed, client facing role
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment
- Experience of drafting ITT documents and contracts
- Demonstrable record of strong commercial management and negotiation skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong, effective working relationships across the business and influence key stakeholders
- Demonstrated evidence of good communication skills at all levels, including presenting and leading workshops
- Ability to work on own initiative & perform well under pressure
- Confidence and credibility to be a lone voice in unpopular situations
Desirable
- CIPS or RICS
- Experience of Airport operations, infrastructure, construction or similar
Framework and boundaries
The role primarily deals with Capex for all AGS Airports and may on occasions include Opex requirements. Sourcing supplies and services for all areas of the business but primarily capital categories. Support the airport team in using and optimising the AGS ERP procurement tool and E-tendering platform. Control of risk & compliance across procurement processes. Works within pre-determined governance structure as defined by the Group Head of Procurement. Regular interaction with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
