We have an exciting opportunity at Glasgow Airport for a Door and Shutter Technician to join our Engineering team. The role will be based at Glasgow Airport and is a full-time role.

Job Description:

To provide maintenance support for roller shutters, automatic doors, barriers and bollards. To provide additional technical support to the wider maintenance team. To provide ongoing training and coaching to enable the upskilling of the wider maintenance team. Occasional requirement to work out of hours around operational requirements.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • To safely undertake all planned and reactive maintenance tasks on airport auto-doors, shutter doors, barriers and bollards, ensuring optimum serviceability levels are met.
  • To ensure all maintenance records are completed fully and correctly in line with regulatory requirements and best practice asset management techniques.
  • Ensure all permit processes are adhered to and change control requirements are captured.
  • Engage proactively in Continuous Improvement programmes associated with delivering improvements to customer service, safety, quality and cost reduction for Glasgow Airport.
  • Ensure all workplans for door and shutter assets are in line with industry best practice.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and maintenance team colleagues on the progress of completing and completed work.
  • Work with others, including colleagues or trainees on a one-to-one basis to enable a broadening of the skill and knowledge base of the whole workforce to deliver the best possible customer service.
  • Proactively upgrade skills to facilitate the maintenance and operation of new assets and services being delivered into service to ensure that they are maintained in a manner which keeps them performing at an appropriate level.
  • Review and updating of risk assessments and department contingency plans and utilise them as required.
  • Review and update the asset list for doors and shutter and update the condition rating accordingly.
  • Supervise and inspect 3rd party contractor maintenance activity on site in relation to doors and shutters.
  • Onboard assets and collaborate with projects and project managers in asset acceptance, liaising with the Maintenance Manager M&E.
  • Lead suppliers and contractors in the identification of replacement options for obsolete infrastructure, ensuring that standards are maintained and asset records updated.

Qualifications And Experience:

Experience in the following is essential:

  • Completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship in either an Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services discipline combined with an ONC/HNC in the same discipline.
  • Experience in the maintenance of auto-doors, shutters and barriers in a similar role.

Experience in the following is desirable:

  • Experience working in an airport environment or with companies with comparable safety and security rules.

Framework and boundaries:

  • Close working relationship with Maintenance Manager M&E
  • Close working relationship with other Airport Duty Engineers and Technicians
  • Good working relationship with Engineering Manager
  • Good working relationship with Maintenance Manager B&CE
  • Good working relationship with Facilities Stores and Scheduling Manager
  • Good working relationship with all airport departmental shift managers
