An exciting opportunity has arisen for either a Working Herd Manager or a Farming Couple to take responsibility for the day to day management of a spring block calving dairy herd. Working closely with the farm owners and wider support team, you will oversee herd performance, milk quality, staff coordination, and the smooth running of daily operations. This is a hands on role offering genuine autonomy and the opportunity to take pride in managing a well run dairy unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day herd management
  • Maintaining excellent animal welfare and milk quality standards
  • Achieving herd production and feed targets
  • Leading and supporting a small team
  • Accurate herd recording and computer-based data management
  • AI and foot trimming duties
  • General farm maintenance and machinery care
  • Operating telehandler, scraper tractor, and quadbike

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ dairy experience
  • Strong understanding of grass based dairy systems
  • AI and foot trimming experience essential
  • Positive, proactive, and hands on attitude
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the role
  • Computer literate and confident using herd management software
  • Minimum NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or equivalent qualification relevant to the role
  • Legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment
