A well established poultry business in the Peterborough area is looking to recruit a Turkey Stockperson to join its experienced on site team. The role covers both turkey breeding and rearing operations, with work varying throughout the year depending on the production cycle. The business places a strong emphasis on bird welfare, stockmanship and good farm practice, alongside a practical, hands on approach to maintaining buildings, equipment and day to day operations. This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys responsibility and working closely with livestock.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out daily bird inspections and maintaining accurate production records
  • Undertaking routine husbandry tasks to a high welfare standard
  • Artificial insemination of breeding hens
  • Collecting and handling hatching eggs
  • Cleaning, washing and preparing poultry housing between flocks
  • Placement of day-old poults and loading of birds at later stages
  • General upkeep and repair of machinery and equipment
  • Assisting with muck handling, bale work and associated farm tasks
  • Adhering to all biosecurity, health & safety and welfare procedures
  • Providing support to other areas of the wider farming operation when required

The candidate:

  • Previous livestock farming experience is essential; poultry experience preferred
  • Strong work ethic with a proactive and flexible approach
  • Physically capable of manual farm work
  • Good attention to detail with a genuine interest in poultry production
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Forklift and/or tractor experience beneficial but not essential
  • High standards of cleanliness and biosecurity expected
  • Important: Employees must not keep poultry or pet birds at home
