Maintenance Engineer – Exeter – Up to £43K – 4 on/4off

The Job:

The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in ensuring maximum up-time and the efficient operation of the production plant. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position focuses on preventative and reactive maintenance, compliance with statutory requirements, and contributing to long-term repair planning.

The role operates on a 4 days on, 4 days off shift pattern , alternating between day shifts (6:00 am – 6:00 pm) and night shifts (6:00 pm – 6:00 am) .

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and responding to breakdowns promptly.
  • Conducting boiler maintenance and inspecting pressure systems (steam, condensate, and air).
  • Ensuring the plant is safely isolated for colleagues and contractors to carry out work.
  • Issuing Permits to Work and ensuring adherence to safety procedures.
  • Recording maintenance tasks in daily logs and Asset Master systems.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and supporting site security.

The Candidate:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional with a strong technical background and a mechanical bias. The ideal candidate will currently be working as a Plant Engineer or Maintenance Engineer .

Your CV should demonstrate:

  • Mechanical and electrical qualifications.
  • Expertise in boiler maintenance.
  • First Aid certification and excellent health & safety awareness.
  • A proactive, “get it right first time” attitude.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
