The Job:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Poultry Stockperson / General Farm Worker to join a progressive mixed farming business near Peterborough. The role will primarily focus on the care and management of a large turkey enterprise, including both Christmas birds and breeding stock. The position offers plenty of variety throughout the year, with additional involvement in general farm maintenance, machinery work and seasonal agricultural activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring and care of turkeys, ensuring high standards of health and welfare
  • Feeding, bedding, vaccination and blood sampling
  • Egg collection and grading during the breeding season
  • Catching, moving and loading birds
  • Mucking out, pressure washing and preparing poultry houses
  • Tractor and machinery work, including bedding and straw spreading
  • General farm maintenance and seasonal farm work

The Candidate

  • Previous livestock or poultry experience, although full training will be provided for the right person
  • Practical, reliable and hardworking, with a genuine interest in livestock and animal welfare
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Tractor experience and a full driving licence would be advantageous

The Package

  • £14.00–£15.00 per hour, depending on experience

Candidate Requirements

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
